KCOTA
A Victory in Maine!

Feb. 16, 2007

After months in court a Freeport, Maine restaurant owner will be allowed to return is confiscated pet koi to their rightful place on display in his restaurant aquarium. Cuong Ly, owner of the Chine Rose restuarant has displayed for the entire 15 years his restaurant has been open, but only now is able to display them legally with the all important state permit. For months state officials have clamored with wild eyes of the threat posed by their being koi in the state. Yet, the permit seems to seal the deal and makes this otherwise invasive and nuisance species according to some just another aquarium ornamental. Thank goodness for permits and Maine's willingness to issue one making these koi safe again!
